Energy Peace Partners is built on the idea that renewable energy can serve as a building block for peace in the world's most fragile, climate vulnerable, and energy poor regions. In recent months, we have ramped up our engagement efforts with industry leaders to showcase our innovative climate and finance solutions that can bring this vision to life.
As we prepare to expand the global market for Peace Renewable Energy Credits (P-RECs) through the launch of the P-REC Aggregation Facility—which will unlock up to $90 million in financing for a portfolio of high impact renewable energy projects in 11 fragile countries in Sub-Saharan Africa—EPP has secured diverse opportunities to increase the visibility of P-RECs and demonstrate how they help companies achieve their goals for purpose-driven, next generation procurement.
Earlier this year, EPP presented and facilitated conversations at the REC Market Meeting in Amsterdam, Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) Summit in Seattle, and various virtual industry events like CEBA’s July energy customer call. In addition, we were featured among the CEBA community, after becoming a member of the world’s preeminent community of renewable energy buyers, and became an ally of the Council for Inclusive Capitalism.
EPP will participate in various leading industry events and conversations in the months ahead. For example, we are proud to serve as a Community Partner of VERGE 23—the leading climate tech event—taking place October 24-26 in San Jose, CA, where we will join over 5,000 professionals who are working collectively to solve the climate crisis while reimagining and redesigning our world to be more prosperous, sustainable and resilient. We will also be participating at the Renewable Energy Markets (REM) Conference in Washington, DC, Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya in September, COP28 in the United Arab Emirates, and more.
Our growing participation in targeted industry events and associations will promote a broader understanding and adoption of P-RECs for corporate procurement and impact strategies. Our efforts are bearing fruit. For example, the RE100, a global initiative led by Climate Group that brings together the world's most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity, recently recognized P-RECs in its latest latest Technical FAQs FAQs as an “additional, voluntary label” for renewable electricity purchasing that are more strongly associated with impact because the revenues from their sales are directed towards new renewable energy capacity. EPP’s participation in these events and associations will also help increase the number of companies that understand what P-RECs are, their benefits, how they can help companies make measurable progress toward their respective impact goals, and ultimately how P-REC procurement can catalyze new renewable energy projects that deliver carbon-free electricity access along with peace and development dividends in the world’s most fragile countries.
We encourage you to join us at these upcoming renewable energy and climate industry events and hope to see you there.
