In December 2022, the International REC Standard Foundation approved Energy Peace Partners as the I-REC country issuer for Ethiopia and Haiti. EPP is now authorized to issue standard I-REC(E) certificates as well as Peace Renewable Energy Credits (P-RECs) from qualifying projects in both countries. P-RECs are I-RECs with an additional label from EPP certifying the environmental and social co-benefits of renewable energy generated from new projects located in fragile, energy poor settings. EPP is now authorized as the I-REC country issuer for six countries: the Democratic Repubiic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Somalia, Chad, Ethiopia and Haiti.
